Terms of Service
Draft — pending legal review
The service
CognoDB Cloud is a managed graph database provided as a hosted service. You create instances, we run them. There is no self-hosted distribution and no software licence granted to you beyond the right to use the service.
Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details, for keeping credentials secure, and for activity that occurs under your account. Instance passwords and API keys are shown once and stored only as hashes — we cannot recover them for you. Tell us promptly if you believe an account or credential has been compromised.
Your data
You retain all rights to the data you store. We process it only to provide the service. You can export it at any time. We do not use it to train models or for any purpose you did not ask for.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to:
- break the law, or infringe someone else's rights;
- attack, probe or degrade the service or another customer's instances, other than good-faith security research conducted against your own resources and reported to us;
- resell raw capacity in a way that circumvents the pricing model; or
- store data you are not permitted to store, including data subject to regulatory regimes we have not told you we can support.
Fees
Paid instances are billed by the second at the rates published on the pricing page. Those rates are the infrastructure cost of the resources your instance reserves. A paused instance is charged only for storage and, if enabled, backups. Fees are exclusive of taxes. If a payment fails we will contact you before suspending anything.
Free tier
The free tier is provided at no charge and runs on shared burstable capacity. It carries no availability commitment and we may change or discontinue it, with notice to affected accounts.
Availability
We work to keep the service available and we publish no service level agreement today. When we commit to one, it will appear here and we will tell you. Until then, do not rely on an availability guarantee that we have not made.
Suspension and termination
You may delete instances and close your account at any time. We may suspend an instance that threatens the stability or security of the service, or that breaches these terms, and will tell you why. Deleted instances are retained for 30 days with a final snapshot before permanent removal.
Changes to the service
The product will change. We will give reasonable notice before removing a capability you depend on or making a change that breaks existing behaviour.
Changes to these terms
We will notify account holders before material changes take effect.
